The seats are larger than similar strollers that are lightweight and the canopy is fitted with large sunshades with SPF 50 that have peekaboo windows. Weight
The weight of a double buggie will determine the ability to push. A light buggy is easier to lift and transport, but may not have enough suspension to handle bumps and uneven terrain.
Most double buggies come with an upper limit on the weight of each seat and some have total frame maximums and it's important to know the specifics of each model prior to making a buy. Some double buggies are able to be folded with seats removed, which makes them smaller and lighter. This is helpful if you are limited on storage space.
Tri-fold doubles are generally the lightest, since they only require a single hand to lift the back and lower sections. They are also smaller than buggies that are side by side and can be accessed through the majority of doors. The iCandy Geo 3 is one of the lightest tri-fold doubles available on the market. It can comfortably accommodate twins or a toddler and baby.
Tandem buggies are perfect for families with growing children because they begin as a single stroller, but can be adapted to include a second child such as a car seat or carrycot. Some, such as the iCandy Orange offer over 30 different seating configurations, meaning they can grow along with your family as high as a 3rd child. They are generally heavier than tri-fold doubles. However, they're generally easier to move up and down kerbs thanks to the weight being more evenly distributed.
Folding
The best double buggies designed for small children can fold up in just a few seconds. Our Lab experts appreciate this feature as it helps them squeeze the buggies in the back of their vehicles and also save storage space when they are not in use. For instance, the Joovy Kooper X2 has straps on each seat that can be pulled up, and the entire thing folds down. it's a trifold, which even our oldest testers could do with one hand.
The light Delta Children LX side by side is a great option for a double buggies. Its light weight is a plus but also the features it comes with large pop-out canopy which come with SPF 50 protection as well as a the peek-a-boo window; swing-away bars to help children get in and out of their seats; and reclined chairs and leg rests designed for toddlers.
Manoeuvrability
When selecting a compact double stroll, it's important to take into account its maneuverability. This is a good indicator of how easy it is for both children to be able to ride in the buggy. Certain pushchairs are better than others and include the iCandy's 'cinema seat' (where the back is elevated).
The narrow tandem buggies are excellent at this as can side-byside designs. Buggies with this type of design can be a little longer and could be difficult to navigate through doors.
The UPPAbaby Vista 2 pushchair is an excellent example, since it's a comparatively small model that has two additional seats and the most important thing is an auxiliary board that can accommodate a third kid.
